Viola M. Frederick, Annandale

Viola M. Frederick, age 100, of Annandale, died Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at the Annandale Care Center. Funeral services will be 1 p.m.. Friday, May 10, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Annandale with Rev. Dave Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at the Cokato Finnish Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale, and one hour prior to the service, Friday, at the church. Viola Marie Frederick was born Jan. 27, 1913, in Middle River to Walter and Anna (Nicka) Matsen. She was united in marriage to Clifford Widlund and he preceded her in death. She was later united in marriage to Lawrence Frederick and he also preceded her in death. She lived most of her life in Annandale, living a short time in Minneapolis and Walker. Viola owned and operated Mom’s Café in South Haven in the 1950s and went on to work at the Twin Cities Arsenal in New Brighton. She was a former member of the Walker Legion Auxiliary. Viola enjoyed fishing, traveling, wintering in Arizona and summering in Annandale. She is survived by her daughter, Caroline Rimer, of Robbinsdale; five grandchildren: Richard Rimer, Randy Rimer, Ronda Held, Robbie Rimer and Rona Nesser; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Kenneth (Barb) Lantto, of Edina; and sister, Betty Jane (Clinton) Lambert, of Buffalo. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Lawrence and Clifford; parents, Walter and Anna; three infant sons; 10 brothers; and five sisters. Pallbearers will be Richard J. III, Christopher, Justin and Tanya Rimer, Nick Listul, Joey Nesser, Ryan Held and Tara Nesser. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
