Jessica S. Ludenia, Watertown

Jessica S. Ludenia, age 33, of Watertown, died Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 30, 2017, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Faith Community in Wayzata with Fr. Mike Van Sloun as the Celebrant. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Minneapolis. Memorials are preferred to the trust fund that will be set up for Jessica’s daughter.

Christopher J. Churchill, Maple Lake

Christopher J. Churchill, age 34, of Maple Lake, died Monday, November 6, 2017, in Eagle Butte, SD, while on a hunting trip as a result of an auto accident.
Mass of Christian Burial was held 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 13, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Waverly, with Fr. Kenneth O’Hotto as the celebrant and Fr. Marty Shallbetter as the concelebrant. Visitation was 3-6 p.m. Sunday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Maple Lake and from 9:30 until the funeral on Monday in the gathering space of the church. A prayer service was held at 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.

Meri Lynn Bidwell, Silver Creek

Meri Lynn Bidwell, age 71, of Silver Creek, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, at the University of Minnesota Fairview Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Memorial services were held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 4, at the Silver Creek Community Church, 4282 114th St. NW, Maple Lake, with Pastor Luke Baehr officiating. Visitation began at 10:00 a.m. at the church and a luncheon followed the service.

Arnold Walter goerke, Maple Lake

Arnold Walter Goerke, age 82, of rural Maple Lake, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
He was born on August 21, 1935, in Chatham Township, Wright County, the son of Theodore and Clara (Bartels) Goerke.
He was baptized in September of 1935 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Middleville Township. He was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith on May 15, 1949, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. His confirmation memory verse was 1st Timothy 4:8: “For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.”
Arnie graduated from Concordia High School in St. Paul in 1953 and Concordia University in River Forest, Illinois, in 1958.

MICHAEL "JASON" BARKER, formerly of Maple Lake

Michael "Jason" Barker, 45, of Tupelo, Mississippi, formerly of Maple Lake, passed away on Oct. 16, 2017, at his home. Funeral services were on Oct. 20, in Nettelton, MS.
Jason was born on May 15, 1972, in Zion, IL, to Colus "Wayne" Barker and Pamela Creekmore. He attended Tupelo High School and after graduation he joined the United States Army. He was stationed at Fort Hood, TX. While in the Army he was deployed twice to Kuwait. It was at Fort Hood that he met and married Jennifer Nemec. They were blessed with three boys. Jason was honorably discharged from the Army in 1996. He then moved to Maple Lake.
Jason enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, playing pool and video games.

Lois E. Erger, Buffalo

Lois E. Erger, age 90, of Buffalo, formerly Maple Lake and Kimball, passed peacefully on Thursday, October 19, 2017, at Lakeside Oasis End of Life, Buffalo, surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be on Friday, October 27, from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. with a Celebration of Life service at 6:30 p.m. at the Park Terrace Assisted Living Chapel, 613 Montrose Blvd., Buffalo. A private burial will be in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Maple Lake. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that donations be made to Lakeside Oasis End of Life Care, 310 Lake Blvd. South, Buffalo, MN, 55313.

Lillian J. Sukut, Maple Lake

Lillian Jean Sukut was born August 17, 1935, to Gottlob and Hulda (Radke) Sukut in Lehr, North Dakota. Lillian grew up on the family farm by Pintree, North Dakota and attended country school in Stutsman County. Lillian then attended cosmetology school. Lillian worked as a cosmetologist for over 50 years for various beauty salons in the Minneapolis area, while also raising her son, Kevin “KJ”. Lillian eventually moved out of the Twin Cities metro and resided in Kingston Township, Meeker County, before making her home in Maple Lake following KJ’s death. Lillian was active at Grace Lutheran Church near French Lake, where she participated in various church groups and activities, including her strong involvement in WELCA. In the summer of 2017, Lillian was awarded Outstanding Senior Citizen at the Wright County Fair. She was further recognized as the Wright County Senior Woman Volunteer of the Year at the Minnesota State Fair.

Joan Patrick Loftis Wilcox


JOAN PATRICIA LOFTIS WILCOX

Joan Patricia Loftis Wilcox passed away peacefully on September 6, 2017, in Bryan, Texas. Joan was born on September 21, 1937, to James Hunter Loftis and Mamie Tuggle Loftis in Atlanta, Georgia, where she was raised. She attended Asbury University in Wilmore, KY, where she met her life mate, James Russell Wilcox. Joan and James were married on December 21, 1958, and had three children; Kent Randall Wilcox, Teresa Gaynelle Wilcox, and Lane Eric Wilcox. Joan spent many years of her life as an elementary school teacher in Maple Lake, St. Michael, and Buffalo, sharing her love of learning with inquiring young minds. When not working, Joan loved sewing, quilting, knitting, and needlepoint.
Joan was a kind and gentle spirit who showed us the meaning of unconditional love. She welcomed all with open arms, was unwavering in her faith, and had a heart of service. She leaves us with many good memories, grandma-isms, and the desire to make the world a better place.

Delia Clara Marquette, Annandale

Delia Clara Marquette, the daughter of Lawrence and Florence (Wakeman) Miller, was born on December 31, 1939, in St. Paul, MN. She grew up in Palmer, a small township within Clear Lake on Briggs Lake. Delia married Clark Marquette on May 20, 1972, and started their family in Maple Lake. God blessed their marriage with three children, Kevin (deceased), Denise, and Darin. In her spare time Delia would listen to country music, Hank Williams and Patsy Cline were among her favorites. She enjoyed playing games such as Bingo, Yahtzee, cards, and putting puzzles together. She had a passion for feeding the birds as they would fly in front of her window for her to watch. Being around family and friends was very important to Delia and she will be forever missed by those who knew and loved her.  Delia C. Marquette passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2017, at the Annandale Care Center in Annandale at the age of 77 years old.

Regina C. Matheny, Annandale

Regina C. Matheny, age 85, of Annandale, died Friday, September 15, 2017, at the Annandale Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 21, at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Annandale with Most Rev. Andrew Cozzens celebrating the Mass and Fr. George Kallumkalkudy, Concelebrant. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery. Visitation is from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, with the Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.; and from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, both at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale.
Regina Clare Matheny was born May 13, 1932, in Topeka, Kansas, to John and Catherine (Duman) Stadler, the 10th of 11 children. After obtaining her nursing degree in 1955 from St. Mary's Nursing College in Xavier, KS, she moved to Minnesota and worked as an RN at St. Mary's Hospital in Minneapolis. She married Jack Matheny on June 22, 1957. They moved their growing family to Annandale in 1968.
